Some Artists…

These days I feel like I am always discovering new artists who inspire me in a variety of mediums. Whether it be illustration, clay, graffiti, tattooing, you name it, if it is art related I usually love it. The past few months a few artists specifically have been pleasantly spicing up my social media feeds and I felt they deserved some proper recognition.

Usurps

I followed this artist on twitter about 2-3 months ago and his work has been some of my favorite lately. One thing I really admire about this artist is how much time and detail he puts into his craft, I can tell by his online presence that he spends roughly 10-14 hours a day if not more creating. His work features bright, abstract, 90’s vibe, geometric pieces on a variety of canvases. He has been known to paint murals, records, trays, cars, cones, spray paint cans, you name it. I applaud his color palette choices and the tiny details he puts into his pieces to make them stand out like the layering of shapes and textures and small accents of color way blocks on the border. Even though I am a struggling college student I love supporting artist when I can and made a point to buy some of his stickers when I had extra money and he was super friendly and the stickers are great quality. If you enjoy abstract art you should check him out on Instagram!

charlinebataille

Charline Bataille is a queer, non binary, artist from Montreal who illustrates and tattoos their eccentric, vintage style, characters full-time. I discovered them on Instagram around the winter of 2019 and have been captivated by their bright artwork ever since. Their artwork takes on an interesting, playful, and somewhat “grotesque” approach. I feel that most of their work defies boundaries and societal standards, especially regarding body image and self love. Their linework and vintage cartoon faces give a nostalgic yet comforting feel. Among other things, their artwork inspires me to incorporate a lot of objects and colors in a tasteful way.

Blanco Rabbit

Blanco Rabbit’s artwork graced my online presence on Twitter a few months ago. She has a consistent bright, uplifting, 70’s style. Her artwork usually features groovy motivational typography or adorably illustrated symbols and standard objects. Misha is a mutual follower of mine and I can see how her sweet, chill personality is reflected in her work. She inspires me to create constantly with her frequently revealing new pieces. I am a huge admirer of her willingness to try new mediums like traditional and digital illustration, clay, makeup, and more. I can’t wait to see what else she creates in the future, check her work out here.
