I’m kind of obsessed w/ YouTube.

Even though I have recently been focusing on digital illustration I love a variety of media, including videography. I have been an avid social media user since I was 12 years old beginning with Myspace and Youtube.

My YouTube addiction was not severe until my sophomore year of high school when I would watch makeup tutorials every time I hung out with a specific friend of mine. Because of this I picked up makeup as a hobby which eventually turned into a passion and opened up career opportunities for me.

I have been doing makeup for 6 years now and my style and taste in content has changed overtime. When I was younger I gravitated toward silly skits such as LiveLavaLive, or animations like Charlie The Unicorn. When I became obsessed with makeup the only content I watched was makeup artists.

As I began to develop my own sense of style I unsubscribed to few but have discovered a whole new world of content creators. While I still watch makeup tutorials I now primarily watch: lifestyle vlogs, DIY’s, fashion, health & wellness, and art related content.

I have dabbled in video making in the past and my skills have progressed over the years with the tools I have been provided by my university. Unfortunately, I would get caught up in the stress of life or fine tuning every detail that I have only posted a few videos on my channel. Now in my last semester most of my classes have been focused on building my portfolio and I have been creating more videos than ever. I have been picking up inspiration from some of my favorite YouTubers when it comes to video topics and editing styles. More than ever I am extremely proud of the content I have been producing and thought it would be nice to reflect on some creators I enjoy watching + greatly admire.

Jenny

Jenny, Wearilive, is a Colorado native, now residing in NYC creating content full-time. Jenny has a mindful perspective, she creates content about sustainable living, health & wellness, as well as some fashion and beauty. As silly as this sounds I feel like Jenny has one of the most human like personalities that I have seen on Youtube she seems easy going and comforted by the small things in life which only inspires me to do the same! I also really enjoy the way Jenny shoots and produces her videos in even the simplest ways which inspires me in my own work.

Lindsey

Lindsey Rem is from Orange County California. She recently graduated from Chapman University for Graphic Design and now works for Playboy. She has been creating lifestyle videos for roughly 7 years now. Her content ranges from beauty, fashion, health & wellness, and more. My favorite thing about Lindsey is her range in style and content! She has consistency but still finds ways to shake things up from time to time ♡

Mei

Mei, otherwise known as Meicrosoft is a breath of fresh air in the youtube/influencer community. She is mellow but always addresses sensitive topics like mental health and battles with addiction. Her voice is so calm and soothing that I love to let her videos play while I’m being productive like cleaning the house, drawing, or editing videos of my own. Aside from her having a chill personality I love her sense of style when it comes to fashion and makeup which is usually where most of her content is focused.

Among these creators are many more such as Bestdressed, Atleeeey, & itslikelymakeup just to name a few, you can also check out my channel if you’re interested in seeing what I have created.

Even if you are not interested in creating videos I find YouTube to be a great source of inspiration no matter what you are passionate about! And who knows… like myself you might find through YouTube that there are many things you are passionate about.
